I think that the teachers were overreacting by call the poles . Then putting handcuffs on her. I think she should have clend up.

I think the teachers overreacted by calling the police. I think her punishment should have been to clan the desk in break and clean a few more

I think the teachers did overreacted by calling the police. i think her punishment should of been to clean up the desk in her own time or she could of cleaned others as well or maybe helping out the community with jobs if the worse came to worse.

i think they shouldnt of reacted this way although they may be trying to give children a lesson for the future,its completly over the top to react in this manner.Picking someone up and arresting them let alone a cop is just horrible, maybe this had happend before or maybe it was published by the new york times with the wrong story.If i was to scribble on my desk at worst i would expect detention or maybe a pinkslip if it was continous.Maybe it is a strict school and besides it is vandalism.They most likley have strict rules in that school it must not have been the very first time that she did it because they reacted by calling the police.

I think they over reacted to this. I would like to know if there is more to this story.
If it was just writing on the desk she should have been made to clean the class desks in her own time.

i think the girl should of had to clean her desk and if she was at fernside she could of got points taken off her and she could of cleaned all the other desks aswell.
i think the teachers reacted like this because she might of done it before and theey were showing all the other kids what the might happen to them.

Man that is so uncool the school went too far with the punishment.
I think the school was so o.t.t. I think it was just wrong to call the cop. if I did it in our school at the worst i would get a bad telling off by my mum and dad and probably detension.

I think the school over reacted by calling the police.They should make her rub out the doodle and clean the desk in her own time.Also they should make her pick up rubbish for the rest of the day.Hopefully this will teach her to have respect for school property.

I think the teacher over reacted because she called the police. The punishment should be cleaning all the desks in the classroom.

I think the teacher over reacted she should of told her that you are not aloud to draw on the desks and given her a warning and if she did it again she would have to clean all the desks in the class and get a detention.

the teachers went over the top calling the cops, plain silly & taking her out of the school with cuffs.
even though she didn't need to pay one million pounds she had to do community service :(.
she should of just taken it off her desk and maybe stayed in for 5-10 minutes.

I think that the school overeacted a bit to far,all that the kid should do is clean it up and have a
about 10 minutes of detention.

The only lesson she and other pupils have learnt,is she can go to court and get away with it.
Because of this next time she may do something worse and think she can get away with it and not go to jail or pay a fine.
I think the school might have over reacted in trying to scare pupils into not doing what she did that day.
Another reason maybe why the school did it, was because it was a form of graffiti and the desk didn't belong to her.
